THUNDER BAY, Ont. – The Superior International Junior Hockey League, in partnership with the Local Organizing Committee for Scotiabank Hockey Day in Canada, which will be held in Kenora, announced Tuesday the SIJHL will be part of the schedule of events during the national hockey celebration this coming February.

Among the festivities of Scotiabank Hockey Day in Canada will be a SIJHL regular season contest between the English River Miners and Fort Frances Lakers on Saturday, Feb. 18, 2017 at the Kenora Recreation Centre’s Thistle Rink.

“The SIJHL is extremely honoured to be a part of this tremendous event coming to the City of Kenora as we celebrate our country’s great game as part of Canada’s 150th birthday celebration,” offered SIJHL Commissioner Bryan Graham.

“We are very excited to showcase our product to the hockey fans in the Kenora area as we continue our quest to bring a Junior “A” expansion franchise to the community,” added Graham.

For their part, the Hockey Day in Canada group in Kenora is pleased to have the SIJHL joining the festivities.

“Our committee is very excited to partner with the SIJHL in providing the opportunity for hockey fans in Kenora to once again experience Junior “A” hockey as part of this historic four-day celebration of events in our community,” stated Hockey Day in Canada co-chair Dan Reynard.

The full event schedule and details on how to purchase tickets to attend the SIJHL contest between the Miners and Lakers as well as other ticketed events planned for Scotiabank Hockey Day in Canada will be announced in the coming weeks.
