GM Ice Dogs take a bite out of Norskies

DRYDEN, Ont. – The Dryden GM Ice Dogs got three points apiece from the duo of Jacen Bracko and Cory Dennis to help them thump the Thief River Falls Norskies 8-2 Friday evening in a Superior International Junior Hockey League encounter at Memorial Arena.

Dryden started strong in this one grabbing a 2-0 lead five minutes into the contest on Garrett Graham’s first SIJHL goal along with a shorthanded effort courtesy of Bracko.

After Alec Daman notched his first league tally at 5:21 of the first, the GM Ice Dogs came back with markers 14 seconds apart off the sticks of Braedyn Aubin and Dennis to make it 4-1 after one.

Bracko’s second of the night added to the home side’s cushion early in the middle stanza before Connor Bowey countered for Thief River Falls in his SIJHL debut at 9:05.

Nic Noseworthy added another for Dryden at 13:13 of the session as they host went up 6-2 after 40 minutes.

The GM Ice Dogs then put it away in the final frame with efforts from Eric Stout and Bracko, who finished off the scoring with his third goal of the night.

Ben Dennis made 32 saves to record the win as he improved to 3-0-0-0 on the season.

Sam Novak started for the Norskies and suffered the loss allowing three against on 13 attempts in just less than 13 minutes of work while Ryan Buttazzoni stopped 23 of 27 in relief for Thief River Falls.

The same two teams meet again Saturday back in Dryden at 7:30 p.m.
