Dryden gets by Thief River Falls 5-3

DRYDEN, Ont. – A Nic Noseworthy power play goal 8:18 into the third period proved to be the game-winner as the Dryden GM Ice Dogs defeated the Thief River Falls Norskies 5-3 Saturday evening in a Superior International Junior Hockey League encounter at Memorial Arena.

Dryden picked up the lone tally of the opening frame late in the session as Jacen Bracko scored at 18:34.

Up a man early in the middle stanza, Dryden made it 2-0 compliments of Eric Stout’s league-leading 12th of the season.

It stayed that way into the third when the two sides erupted for three tallies apiece.

After Sam Marit made it 3-0 GM Ice Dogs early in the session, Thief River Falls came back with efforts courtesy of Alec Daman at even strength and then Connor Smith, via the power play, to pull the visitors within one.

Moving on, Noseworthy and the Norskies’ Logan Jackson exchanged man advantage efforts before Braedyn Aubin iced it late for Dryden with an insurance marker to round out the night’s scoring.

The GM Ice Dogs outshot Thief River Falls 46-24 on the evening with Taylor Unruh picking up the win and Ryan Buttazzoni the loss.
