GM Ice Dogs roll over Iron Rangers

DRYDEN, Ont. – The Dryden GM Ice Dogs used an eight-goal second period barrage while getting multiple point nights from nine different skaters as they blasted the Minnesota Iron Rangers 15-4 Wednesday in a Superior International Junior Hockey League match-up at Memorial Arena.

Dryden grabbed a 3-1 lead after one period of play on markers from Jake Gushue, Jacen Bracko and Braeden Allkins while Jonathon Yanovsky replied for Minnesota.

The GM Ice Dogs blew it open in the middle stanza outscoring the Iron Rangers 8-1 in the session.

Woody Galbraith notched a hat trick in the frame for the home side with Allkins, Garrett Graham, Mark Ziobro, Matt Leniuk and Sam Marit notched the other markers.

Yanovsky added his second of the night in the period for the visitors.

Recently acquired Kris Hamlin picked up his first goal with his new club five minutes into the third to make it 12-2.

Derek McPhail added to the onslaught before Minnesota got markers from Mark Sanchez and Steven Spencer, who picked up his first SIJHL tally.

Luke Allard’s initial league goal and Eric Stout’s 26th accounted for the final two Dryden offensive efforts.

Allkins added five assists in the romp while Allard, Jacen Bracko and Nic Noseworthy dished out three helpers apiece for the GM Ice Dogs.

Shots on goal in the contest were 35-19 in favour of Dryden with Ben Dennis picking up the win.

Sean Angle started for Minnesota and suffered the loss while giving way to Jackson Nelson after the sixth Ice Dogs goal.
