Dryden dumps Minnesota

DRYDEN, Ont. – The Dryden GM Ice Dogs got a goal and three assists apiece from Braedyn Aubin and Braeden Allkins as they went on to dump the Minnesota Iron Rangers 10-1 Saturday in a Superior International Junior Hockey League match-up at Memorial Arena.

Dryden took a 2-0 lead after one period of play on markers from Woody Galbraith and Allkins.

The GM Ice Dogs then blew it open in the second stanza as they erupted for five tallies to take complete control of the contest.

Aubin started the offensive outburst 47 seconds in while Derek McPhail, Mark Ziobro, Nic Noseworthy and Cory Dennis also found the back of the net in the session.

Dryden tacked on two more thanks to Chris Atanas and Kris Hamlin to go up 9-0 before Minnesota dashed Ben Dennis’ shutout bid with 4:49 remaining in regulation on a Jack Stensgard effort.

Atanas added his second of the frame at 16:45 to wrap things up.

Dennis finished with 18 saves in net for the GM Ice Dogs to pick up the win as he improved to an impressive 17-0 on the season.

Sean Angle faced 43 shots in defeat for the Iron Rangers.

The same two teams meet again Sunday afternoon at 3:30 p.m. back at Memorial Arena.
