GM Ice Dogs finish off weekend sweep of Iron Rangers

DRYDEN, Ont. – The Dryden GM Ice Dogs picked up four assists from Nic Noseworthy while Braden Allkins notched a hat trick as they went on to thump the Minnesota Iron Rangers 9-1 in a Superior International Junior Hockey League matinee Sunday afternoon at Memorial Arena.

Dryden set the tone in the first period by grabbing a 3-0 lead on goals from Allkins, Braedyn Aubin and Colton Sandboe, who notched his on a power play.

The GM Ice Dogs continued to pounce as they tacked on four more in the middle stanza to go up by seven.

Jacen Bracko tallied twice in the frame, including one on a man advantage while Woody Galbraith also scored on a power play and Allkins collected his second at even strength.

An early third period power play allowed Minnesota to get on the board as Jack Stensgard scored for a third straight game by notching his 14th goal of the season at 1:19.

Dryden finished it off later with Derek McPhail picking one up shorthanded and Allkins capping off his three-goal game with 2:14 remaining to conclude the scoring.

Patrick Zubick made 32 stops to record the win in a contest in which he also collected two assists.

Jackson Nelson was pelted with 53 shots in the one-sided loss for the Iron Rangers.
