SIJHL announces suspensions

THUNDER BAY, Ont. – Superior International Junior Hockey League Commissioner Bryan Graham announced the following suspensions resulting from incidents during Game 1 of the Bill Salonen Cup Final played on Friday, April 15:

SAM CIRONE, ENGLISH RIVER MINERS – SIX (6) GAMES

Player is suspended two (2) games for his actions and an additional automatic four (4) games, as per the CJHL Supplement, for accumulation of major penalties/game misconducts for fighting during the 2016-17 season.

Cirone will miss his next six games, be it the remainder of the Bill Salonen Cup final and/or the Dudley-Hewitt Cup or any remaining games that would be served next season.

COLTON JOHNSON, ENGLISH RIVER MINERS – ONE (1) GAME

Player is suspended one (1) game for his actions under the CJHL Supplement.

KADEN HINTZ, ENGLISH RIVER MINERS – ONE (1) GAME

Player is suspended one (1) for incurring a major penalty and subsequent game misconduct in the final 10 minutes of the third period in Friday’s contest.

JAKE GUSHUE, DRYDEN GM ICE DOGS – EIGHT (8) GAMES

Player is suspended four (4) games for his actions in Friday’s contest and an additional automatic four (4) games, as per the CJHL Supplement, for accumulation of major penalties/game misconducts for fighting during the 2016-17 season.

Gushue will miss the next eight games be it the remainder of the Bill Salonen Cup final and/or the Dudley-Hewitt Cup or the RBC Cup.

MARK ZIOBRO, DRYDEN GM ICE DOGS – THREE (3) GAMES

Player is suspended three (3) games for his actions under the CJHL Supplement and will miss Games 2, 3 & 4 of the Bill Salonen Cup Final.
