Trio of SIJHL officials selected to work prestigious Jr. A events
THUNDER BAY, Ont. – The Superior International Junior Hockey League announced Tuesday that three of its on-ice officials have been selected to officiate in two prestigious events.
Referee Nigel Black of Thunder Bay and linesman Adam Bryck, who hails from Dryden, will both work the Dudley-Hewitt Cup Central Canadian Jr. A Championship, which runs Tuesday through Saturday in Trenton, Ont., while Thunder Bay’s Braeden Prete has been selected to serve as a linesmen at the upcoming RBC Cup Canadian Jr. A Championship, May 13-21 in Cobourg, Ont.
“It’s a tremendous honour and privilege for Nigel, Adam and Braeden to have been chosen to represent the SIJHL at the Dudley-Hewitt Cup and RBC Cup,” stated league commissioner Bryan Graham.
“This trio is among a solid corps of officials that continue to officiate games at the highest level within the confines of the SIJHL and northwestern Ontario,” added Graham.
“It’s a compliment to their abilities and dedication that sees all three being selected to work these two significant hockey events that will feature the top Jr. A clubs within the Central Region as well as Canada, competing.”
The SIJHL champion Dryden GM Ice Dogs will take to the ice in Game 1 of the Dudley-Hewitt Cup Tuesday afternoon as they take on the Ontario Junior Hockey League titlist Georgetown Raiders at 2:30 p.m.
