Dryden dominates Minnesota

DRYDEN, Ont. – The Dryden GM Ice Dogs picked up three goals and an assist from Malcolm Huemmert as well as a 25-save performance from netminder Isaac Labelle to post his first Superior International Junior Hockey League shutout in a 12-0 domination of the Minnesota Iron Rangers Wednesday evening at Memorial Arena.

Dryden blew the game open in the first period as they struck six times to chase Minnesota starter Jackson Nelson on 20 shots.

Huemmert tallied twice in the session while Matthew Pitchenese, Wyatt Lawrence, Brandon Lawson and Trey Palermo supplied singles.

The GM Ice Dogs then tacked on three more in the middle stanza on Iron Rangers’ back-up Rob Ivy, who was making his debut with his new club.

Notching those markers were Jace Bracko, newcomer Reid Manning and Huemmert once more as he finished off his first SIJHL hat trick.

Bracko, Palermo and Cory Dennis then finished off the romp in the final frame.

Graham Oliphant dished out three assists in aid the Dryden offensive cause.

Nelson and Ivy combined to face 48 shots in defeat for Minnesota.
