June 18, 2008 The Dryden Ice Dogs are pleased to announce that 07/08 captain Colin McIntosh has committed to Utica College NCAA Division lll . Colin has 3 years junior A behind him and the last one with the Dryden Ice Dogs. Last year in the regular season, Colin recorded 34 goals along with 41 assists for 75 points in 42 games. Colin also added 9 power play goals and 4 short handed goals throughout the regular season. The Ice Dogs wish Colin the very best at Utica and his future endeavours. June 16, 2008. The Dryden Ice Dogs are pleased to announce that graduating left winger Nicolas Doiron has accepted a scholarship to Norwich University. Doiron led the Ice Dogs with 85 points this past season. Nic recorded 37 goals, 48 assists along with 10 power play goals and 3 short handed goals in 50 regular season games. Doiron has played for the Ice Dogs for the past 2 seasons and gives thanks to the Dryden Ice Dogs hockey club for all their support. The Dryden Ice Dogs wish Nicolas the very best in his future at Nowich and thank him for his hard work on and off the ice while he was a member of the Dryden Ice Dogs June 16, 2008 The Dryden Ice Dogs are pleased to announce that 20 year old goal tender Graeme Harrington has accepted a scholarship to University of North Dakota (UND NCAA Division 1). Graeme has been between the pipes for the Ice Dogs for two seasons. This past season Graeme had a 2.95 goals against average and a .904 save %. Graeme has great work ethic on and off the ice and gives thanks to his team mates, fans and billets for the past two years. The Dryden Ice Dogs wish Graeme the very best at UND and thank him for his contribution to the Ice Dogs program.

CJAHL Announces General Manager and Head Coach For Team Canada East - 2008 World Junior A Challenge The CJAHL in partnership with Hockey Canada announced today the two individuals who will perform the roles of General Manager and Head Coach for Team Canada East at the 2008 World Junior A Challenge. Team Canada East stated that they have appointed Marty Abrams from the Wellington Dukes of the Ontario Provincial Junior A Hockey League (OPJHL), as their General Manager. “Marty did a tremendous job with Team Canada East at this event the last two years,” declared the CJAHL Representative for Team Canada East, Brent Ladds. “As an Assistant Coach in 2006 and as a General Manager in 2007, his leadership skills and determination led Team Canada East to an appearance in the gold medal final for two consecutive years. We are optimistic that he has the knowledge and experience to lead the team to a gold medal finish this November.” Abrams, as the Head Coach and General Manager Wellington Dukes has amassed a 342-91-30-13 record during his 7 seasons with the Dukes and led his team to their second consecutive Eastern Conference Championship this season. Team Canada East also announced today that they have appointed Mark Grady from the Cumberland Grads of the Central Junior A Hockey League (CJHL), as the team’s head coach. “Mark Grady is an excellent coach who showed that he has the right combination of character and commitment to lead this team at the 2008 World Junior A Challenge,” admitted Brent Ladds. “Mark did a great job last season as an assistant coach for Team Canada East. We have no doubt that he will use his experience gained from last year’s event, and will translate that into a winning formula to take the team to top.” Grady, as the Head Coach / General Manager of the Cumberland Grads, led his team to the top of the Yzerman Divison this season in the competitive CJHL. The 2008 World Junior A Challenge will take place from November 1st to 9th in Camrose, Alberta. Canadawill look to continue its tremendous success at the event, as Team Canada East played Team Canada West in the championship finals of the 2006 and 2007 World Junior A Challenge events, winning silver and gold medals respectively in back-to-back years. Team Canada West stated that they have appointed Leonard Strandberg from the OCN Blizzard of the MJHL, as their General Manager. “Leonard brings a generous history of 20 years worth of experience in Junior A hockey to the table. He has outstanding skills that will assist the leagues in the west, to continue to build a solid foundation for this important hockey development program,” declared the CJAHL Representative for Team Canada West, Kim Davis. “We are optimistic that Leonard will be an excellent selection to lead Team Canada West in its quest to win its third consecutive gold medal at the World Junior A Challenge.” Team Canada West also announced today that they have appointed Boris Rybalka from the Camrose Kodiaks of the AJHL, as the team’s head coach. “We are very delighted to appoint Boris as the Head Coach for Team Canada West, for the third consecutive year,” pronounced Kim Davis. “Boris did a phenomenal job the past two years for Team Canada West at the World Junior A Challenge. April 2, 2008 From Darcy Steen Hockey Canada is pleased to inform you that Graeme Harrington of the Dryden Ice Dogs, has finished third place in the RBC Financial Group - 2007 / 08 National Scholarship contest! As a result, Graeme has been awarded the Nickerson Family Award in the amount of a $500 scholarship to be used towards a post secondary school in Canada The next stage in the process, will be the issuing of the scholarship cheques which will happen in June 2008. Because Graeme has been named both the $1,000 League recipient and he has won the $500 Nickerson Family Award, he will be entitled to a cheque in the amount of $1,500. CALGARY, AB – Hockey Canada, in partnership with the Canadian Junior A Hockey League (CJAHL), announced on Thursday that Camrose, AB will host the 2008 World Junior A Challenge from November 2-9, 2008. All 13 games of the 2008 World Junior A Challenge will take place at EnCana Arena in the Edgeworth Centre, home of the Alberta Junior Hockey League’s Camrose Kodiaks. It will mark the first time in the three-year history of the event that the entire tournament will be played out of one venue – the 2006 World Junior A Challenge was hosted by Yorkton and Humboldt, SK, while the 2007 event was split between Trail and Nelson, BC. In addition, EnCana Arena will be the site for the Opening Ceremonies on November 1st, which will feature a full-length concert by an artist to be announced. The 2008 World Junior A Challenge will follow the same format as previous years – two Canadian entries will be joined by four international teams. Canada West, Russia and Belarus will compete in Group A, while Canada East, the USA and Germany will make up Group B. The group winners will receive an automatic bye to the semi-finals, while the second and third place teams will crossover for the quarterfinals.
