Thats A Wrap On The 2009-2010 Ice Dogs Season

Wednesday, April 7th, 2010

The Dryden Ice Dogs have wrapped up their season, as they lost to the Fort William Northstars, 8-1 in Game 5.  The Northstars took the Final Series 4 Games to 1, and now will represent the S.I.J.H.L at the Dudley Hewitt Cup in Sault Ste. Marie.  Despite losing out in the Final Series, the Dryden Ice Dogs had a VERY successful 2009-2010 Campaign.  To some, its the end of their Junior A hockey career, for others its just another chapter, as they look ahead to the 2010-2011 Campaign.  The Dryden Ice Dogs Players, Staff and entire organization would like to take this opportunity to thank the NUMEROUS Volunteers for all their help this season.  Without the GREAT SPONSORS that continue to support Junior A Hockey in Dryden, it wouldn’t be possible, so THANK YOU.

The Dryden Ice Dogs will now look to prepare for next years season as they celebrate their 10th ANNIVERSARY in the league.  Keep an eye out for promotions and events in the coming months.

Dogs look to even things up in Game 4

Sunday, April 4th, 2010

The Dryden Ice Dogs will look to even things up again tonight, after being defeated by the Fort William Northstars last night in Game 3.  The Northstars would strike first with 2 quick goals, giving them a 2-0 lead at 10:35 of the first, however the Ice Dogs seemed to come to life when Mark McDonald would get Dryden on the board, with the assist from Justin Lightfoot.  However that would be the only goal the Ice Dogs would get on the night, as the Northstars would come out in the second, and score 3 Unanswered Goals in the second period.  With a scoreless Third Period, the Fort William Northstars would get the lead on the series with a 5-1 win over the Dryden Ice Dogs.

Despite the loss, everyone in attendance would have noticed the presence of 16yr old Defenseman, Kevin Raine.  At 6′1″, 190lbs, Raine was a physical presence out there, playing the body well, and not stepping down to anyone.  The puck will drop on Game 4 tonight at the Dryden Memorial Arena.  Gametime is 7:30PM (CST), and CKDR will have the call starting at 7:15PM (CST).  History has it, the Dryden Ice Dogs have always bounced back after a loss, as Game 2, the Ice Dogs bounced back to defeat the Northstars 2-1 to even up the series.
