Stage Is Set Thursday Night!

Nothing Like Playoff Time, as Josh Baker is sporting the Blue Hair.

The Dryden Ice Dogs are preparing themselves this week, as they play host to the Fort William Northstars Thursday March 11, 2010 at the Dryden Memorial Arena.  The last game the Ice Dogs played, was against the Fort William Northstars at the Fort William Gardens in Thunder Bay, Ontario Saturday March 6, 2010 where they defeated the Northstars 2-1 in Overtime.  “  We played the way we know we can, and as a team. ” Ice Dogs Goaltender, Josh Baker said, when asked about the last match up against the two clubs.  Baker, who stopped 39 of 40 shots, also added ” You can’t select 20 names for First Star “  explaining that for 60 full minutes, they played as a team, and gave 110%.

With their minds in playoff mode, the Ice Dogs are looking to go 3-0 in the round robin, getting a step closer to having their pick of the litter for their Semi-Final opponent.  Again, Thursday’s match up is at 7:30PM (CST), Dryden Memorial Arena.  LETS ROCK THE POUND!

The Dryden Ice Dogs would like to congratulate both Mike Lennon and Josh Baker for recieving the S.I.J.H.L’s Player Of The Week Honours for Back To Back Weeks.

With 12 Goals, 46 Assists totalling 58 pts, in 53 Games, Mike Lennon has emerged as a key forward on the Dryden Ice Dogs squad this season.  Amongst those stats are 3 Game Winning Goals, including last weekends game winner against the Fort William Northstars.  In his last eligible year with the Ice Dogs, Lennon wants nothing more than to finish it off as a CHAMPION.  Lennon recieved “Player Of The Week” Honours for the week of March 1, 2010.

As no stranger to the League, Joshua Baker came to the Ice Dogs just before Jan. 10, 2010 deadline day.  While with the Ice Dogs, Baker has racked up 14 Win, 5 Losses, 3 Shutouts and a League Leading .924 Save Percentage.  Like Lennon, this is Baker’s last year of eligibility in Junior A Hockey, and would want nothing more than to add a second Championship to his resume.  Baker currently holds the honour of the leagues ” Player Of The Week “  Way To Go Guys!

Ice Dogs Defeat Northstars in O/T to take Game 2 of Round Robin Action

The Dryden Ice Dogs are perfect when it comes to their Wins and Losses so far this playoffs.  After defeating the Sioux Lookout Flyers in their First Round Robin Matchup, 3-1, The Dryden Ice Dogs defeated the Fort William Northstars on their Home Ice in Thunder Bay, Ontario tonight, to make it 2 in a row.

After 20 minutes of play, it was a scoreless game.  Dryden found themselves on the powerplay, when Kevin Burton took advantage of the extra man, putting the puck behind netminder Guillaume Piche.  It wouldn’t be until half way through the 3rd period, before the Northstars would tie things up, while shorthanded.

The two teams after 60 minutes would find themselves prepare of OVERTIME.  In the overtime period, after killing off a 2 minute penalty, the Dryden Ice Dogs would find themselves on the offensive when Jon Mitchell would put the puck off the back boards, while Mike Lennon would follow it up and score giving Dryden the win.

Josh Baker would have a stellar night inbetween the pipes for Dryden, stopping 39 of 40 shots, giving him a .975 save percentage.  The Ice Dogs will now have a few days off before hosting the Fort William Northstars in Dryden at the Dryden Memorial Arena on Thursday March. 11, 2010 at 7:30PM(CST).

Ice Dogs Battle Northstars Tonight, in Game 2 of Round Robin Action

The Dryden Ice Dogs are on the road tonight, as they travel to Thunder Bay to face the Fort William Northstars.  Both Dryden and Fort William are 1-0 in the round robin, as Fort William defeated the Sioux Lookout Flyers last night 4-1.  Gametime tonight is 6:30PM (CST), CKDR will have the call starting at 6:15PM (CST).

Ice Dogs take Game One of Round Robin

The Dryden Ice Dogs are off to a good start in this years S.I.J.H.L playoffs.  In the first game of the round robin, the Dryden Ice Dogs defeated the Sioux Lookout Flyers, 3-1.  Tanner Harms, BJ McClellan and Kyle Heck all added singles, while Ben McClellan picked up 2 assists, and Chad Liley picked up an assist in the win.  Josh Baker stopped 31 of 32 saves for the win between the pipes for the Ice Dogs.  Dryden will now travel to Thunder Bay on Saturday March 6 to face the Fort William Northstars.  Gametime is 6:30pm (CST).  CKDR will have the call starting at 6:15pm (CST).  In other S.I.J.H.L Playoff Action, the K&A Wolverines defeated the Fort Frances Lakers, in their best of 7 elimination series, 5-3, taking the lead in the series.
