Ice Dogs Defeat Northstars in O/T to take Game 2 of Round Robin Action

The Dryden Ice Dogs are perfect when it comes to their Wins and Losses so far this playoffs.  After defeating the Sioux Lookout Flyers in their First Round Robin Matchup, 3-1, The Dryden Ice Dogs defeated the Fort William Northstars on their Home Ice in Thunder Bay, Ontario tonight, to make it 2 in a row.

After 20 minutes of play, it was a scoreless game.  Dryden found themselves on the powerplay, when Kevin Burton took advantage of the extra man, putting the puck behind netminder Guillaume Piche.  It wouldn’t be until half way through the 3rd period, before the Northstars would tie things up, while shorthanded.

The two teams after 60 minutes would find themselves prepare of OVERTIME.  In the overtime period, after killing off a 2 minute penalty, the Dryden Ice Dogs would find themselves on the offensive when Jon Mitchell would put the puck off the back boards, while Mike Lennon would follow it up and score giving Dryden the win.

Josh Baker would have a stellar night inbetween the pipes for Dryden, stopping 39 of 40 shots, giving him a .975 save percentage.  The Ice Dogs will now have a few days off before hosting the Fort William Northstars in Dryden at the Dryden Memorial Arena on Thursday March. 11, 2010 at 7:30PM(CST).
