Stratford and the Ice Dogs win 300th game in franchise history

Jesse Linner had two goals and set-up another pair helping the Dryden Ice Dogs win their 300th game in Superior International Junior Hockey League history as they defeated the Sioux Lookout Flyers 5-2 Tuesday evening at Memorial Arena.

Dryden would grab a 2-1 lead after one period on a pair of tallies by Ryan Lobreau that were sandwiched around a Chris Hoffman marker for the Flyers.

Following a scoreless middle stanza Jaret Stratford would notch the eventual game-winner beating Sioux Lookout netminder Jayme Brattengeier at 6:34 of the third.

Max Strasser would pull the Flyers to within one with 6:33 remaining in regulation however Linner would ice it with two late goals.

Dean Shepherdson would make 32 saves to register the milestone victory for Dryden while Brattengeier faced 41 shots in a losing cause.

With the win the Ice Dogs improved to 9-8-4 on the year as well as 300-180-47 all-time.

Sioux Lookout slipped to 12-10-1 on the campaign with the setback.

SIJHL action resumes Wednesday as the Iron Range Ironheads host the Wisconsin Wilderness at the Chisholm Sports Arena. Game time is 7:30 p.m.
