Expect to see and hear a lot more from the Dryden GM Ice Dogs this summer.
The longest serving club in the SIJHL is trying to raise its profile in the community.
General Manager Brian Bates and Head Coach Kurt Walsten were guests on the CKDR Morning Show Thursday.
Bates says they are hitting the ground running on community events, fundraiser’s, advertising and selling board signs.
He’s hoping with the new Oshtugon PA system now fully operational in the Arena that they can expand their in-game advertising.
Bates says you just don’t raise your money in the summer and then settle down for the year and stresses they plan to have something for fans every month over the off-season.
On the ice, Walsten stressed they have already secured some key commitments.
He says a lot of skilled key players are excited to come back after one year under their belt and notes they learned a lot.
Walsten says they should have strong leadership this season.
He adds they have also recruited a handful of new players who carry a lot of talent.
Teams are already being selected South of the border and camps are opening up in other parts of the country.
The club has scouts established in Omaha and in British Columbia and the team says names are coming in every day.
