Dryden doubles up Fort Frances 4-2

FORT FRANCES, Ont. – The Dryden GM Ice Dogs got a pair of third period goals to break open a tie game as they went on to defeat the Fort Frances Lakers 4-2 in Superior International Junior Hockey League play Saturday at Ice for Kids Arena.

Matt Tustin did give the Lakers the lead, via the power play, as he supplied the lone marker of the opening 20 minutes.

Dryden rebounded in the middle session to tie it then go ahead on efforts supplied by Tristan Knott at even strength and Derek McPhail during a man advantage opportunity.

Special teams allowed Fort Frances to knot the affair at 2-2 near the six-minute mark of the third compliments on Tyler Malpass while his side was up a skater.

A GM Ice Dogs power play allowed them to get the game-winner from Cory Dennis at 9:14 before Nic Noseworthy iced it with an empty netter at 19:14 to round out the night’s scoring.

Shots were 32-24 in favour of Dryden with Patrick Zubick picking up the win and Brandon Bodnar the loss.
