Dryden finishes off three-win road trip with triumph over Thief River Falls

THIEF RIVER FALLS, Minn. – The Dryden GM Ice Dogs capped off a three-game road trip with a third consecutive win after defeating the Thief River Falls Norskies 6-2 Sunday in a Superior International Junior Hockey League match-up at Ralph Engelstad Arena.

Dryden came out strong and grabbed a 2-0 lead after one period of play, starting with a Nic Noseworthy power play goal followed by a Woody Galbraith even strength effort.

The GM Ice Dogs then went up 3-0 after two as Derek McPhail converted during a man advantage at 5:43.

Dryden kept coming and tacked on two more before the final stanza was seven minutes old on markers from Braeden Allkins and Jacen Bracko.

Allkins’ second of the stanza at 11:52 put the game firmly in the GM Ice Dogs control.

Thief River Falls would get on the board with 3:09 remaining with Connor Bowey dashing the shutout bid of GM Ice Dogs netminder Patrick Zubick.

Michael Johnson’s eighth of the season 41 seconds later brought the Norskies closer, but that turned out to be the final goal of the game.

Zubick made 26 saves to record the win for Dryden while Sam Novak faced 32 attempts in defeat for Thief River Falls.
