Stout sends Dryden past English River

DRYDEN, Ont. – The Dryden GM Ice Dogs got a goal and two assists from Eric Stout to help them skate to a 5-2 victory over the English River Miners Wednesday in Superior International Junior Hockey League play Wednesday night at Memorial Arena.

Stout’s 22nd tally of the campaign put Dryden on the board near the six-minute mark of the contest only to see Austin Kuhn tie it for the Miners 91 seconds later.

The GM Ice Dogs regained the lead 4:51 into the middle stanza thanks to Nic Noseworthy’s 13th, but once again English River countered with the equalizer midway through the frame off the stick of Sidney Gladue.

Dryden went back in front for good however before the second was complete as Jacen Bracko scored at even strength while Trey Palermo struck shorthanded to make it 4-2.

Braedyn Aubin capped off the night offensively for the home side with six and a half go in the contest as he picked up his 12th overall.

Ben Dennis was solid in net for the GM Ice Dogs making 37 saves along the way to record the win while Michael Lenko faced 29 attempts in defeat for the Miners.

The same two teams meet again Friday in a 7:30 p.m. start at Cochenour Arena in Red Lake.
