Bracko scores 4 to highlight Dryden’s one-sided win over Thunder Bay at SIJHL Showcase

THIEF RIVER FALLS, Minn. – The Dryden GM Ice Dogs picked up four goals from Jacen Bracko and a 42-save shutout from Patrick Zubick to help lead them to a one-sided 8-0 victory over the rival Thunder Bay North Stars Tuesday in Game 2 of the Superior International Junior Hockey League Showcase at Ralph Engelstad Arena.

The league-leading GM Ice Dogs wasted little time in taking control of the contest as they struck for three first period goals on the second place North Stars to take command.

Bracko supplied the first two markers, including one on the power play, to get things started.

Special teams allowed Dryden to go up by three as Braeden Allkins struck shorthanded at 15:25 to collect his 28th tally of the season.

Thunder Bay replaced starter Jordan Elliott in favour of Nathaniel Dupuis to begin the middle session, but it was more GM Ice Dogs as Bracko hit his hat trick at 6:15 while a Nic Noseworthy man advantage effort with 29 seconds left in the stanza made it 5-0.

Dryden kept coming in the third as Braedyn Aubin supplied his club’s second power play goal of the game five minutes into the final frame.

Bracko then buried his fourth of the contest midway through the third before Allkins finished off the romp in the late going with his second of the game and 29th overall.

Aubin aided the offensive cause of the GM Ice Dogs with three assists to go along with his marker while Cory Dennis and Jake Gushue chipped in with two helpers apiece.

Dryden made the most of their 35 shots on goal by scoring eight times with Elliott suffering the loss for the North Stars stopping seven on 10 while Dupuis handled 20 of the 25 attempts he faced.

The final game of Day 1 at the SIJHL Showcase features the Thief River Falls Norskies taking on the English River at 7:30 p.m. CT.
