Lawrence tallies twice as Dryden drops Minnesota

DRYDEN, Ont. – The Dryden GM Ice Dogs picked up a pair of tallies, including the game-winner from Wyatt Lawrence, to help lift the Dryden GM Ice Dogs to a 6-2 win over the Minnesota Iron Rangers in Superior International Junior Hockey League action Sunday afternoon at Memorial Arena.

Lawrence started Dryden off offensively 8:15 into the contest while teammate Bryce McDonald added to the cushion 88 seconds later.

Steven Spencer got one back for Minnesota with a power play marker 2:22 into the second, but Lawrence came right back for the GM Ice Dogs shortly afterwards with a man advantage marker of his own that proved to be the eventual difference maker in the match-up.

Cory Dennis then made it 4-2 Dryden at 6:16 as they took a 4-1 margin into the third period.

In the final frame, Brendan Jay connected with the home side up a man six minutes into the session before Max Sturko added the Iron Rangers’ second goal of the game at 8:29.

Dryden’s Trevor Kavanaugh would cap off the scoring midway through the stanza and secure the win.
