THUNDER BAY, Ont. – The Superior International Junior Hockey League announced Monday that Dryden GM Ice Dogs goaltender Landon Pavlisin has been named its Play It Again Sports player of the week for the period ending Jan. 14.
In two starts last week the 18-year-old netminder, who hails from Anaheim, Calif., posted shutouts in both of them as part of three consecutive blankings the GM Ice Dogs posted in the time frame.
Pavlisin began by turning aside all 34 shots he faced in a home ice triumph over Fort Frances before finishing up with a 24-save effort and another clean sheet Sunday as Dryden won at Thief River Falls to move into a first place tie in the SIJHL standings with the Norskies.
A perfect 7-0 since joining the GM Ice Dogs in early December, Pavlisin sports a 1.71 goals-against average along with a stingy .940 save percentage.
He is also riding a streak of 134 minutes and seven seconds without allowing a goal.
