THUNDER BAY, Ont. – The Superior International Junior Hockey League announced Monday that Dryden GM Ice Dogs forward Evan Walls has been named its Play It Again Sports player of the week for the period ending February 25.
In four outings last week, which were all Dryden victories, the soon to be 19-year-old from North Vancouver, B.C., had goals and points in all of them, helping the GM Ice Dogs move into first place in the SIJHL standings.
While Walls notched tallies in each of the four contests, including the game-winner Sunday at Minnesota, he also chipped in with a trio of helpers.
A point-per-game player for Dryden this season, Walls has 43 in 39 games played on 23 tallies and 20 assists.
He is also riding a six-game point streak in which he has scored once in all of them while helping set-up four other markers.
Also earning consideration for player of the week honours was Adam Withers, (F) Fort Frances Lakers; Alex Maticic, (F) Thunder Bay North Stars; Nic Herringer, (F) English River Miners; Michael Johnson, (F) Thief River Falls Norskies and Zac Horn, (F) Minnesota Iron Rangers.
