Fort Frances, Ont. to host SIJHL All-Star Game; league Showcase awarded to Hoyt Lakes, Minn.

THUNDER BAY, Ont. – The Superior International Junior Hockey League announced Wednesday that Fort Frances, Ont., will serve as the host community for its annual All-Star Game while Hoyt Lakes, Minn., will be the location of the SIJHL Showcase.

The All-Star Game is slated for Wednesday, November 28, 2018 at the home of the Fort Frances Lakers, Ice for Kids Arena, in Fort Frances at 7:30 p.m. CT while the SIJHL Showcase goes Tuesday, January 29 and Wednesday, January 30, 2019 at Hoyt Lakes Arena, the home of the Minnesota Iron Rangers.

“The SIJHL would like to commend both the Fort Frances Lakers and Minnesota Iron Rangers on their successful bids and on being chosen to host these two signature league events,” offered SIJHL commissioner Bryan Graham.

“There was multiple interest from league-member clubs and communities to stage both the All-Star Game and Showcase,” added Graham. “We are extremely confident each organization will do a tremendous job in hosting.”

Both events will be streamed online via HockeyTV.com with the skills competition and All-Star Game going in Fort Frances and the Showcase featuring three games a day that will count towards the league standings.

Further information on both events, including ticket information, rosters, etc., will be announced at a later date.

The SIJHL’s 18th season begins Sept. 20.
