2 for Mowatt as Dryden drops Minnesota

DRYDEN, Ont. – Conner Mowatt had a pair of goals while teammate Will Fletcher dished out two assists to help lead the Dryden GM Ice Dogs to a 5-1 triumph over the Minnesota Iron Rangers Sunday at Memorial Arena.

The contest was scoreless until the final five minutes of the first period when Dryden tallied twice getting markers Braden Shea at 15:05 along with the eventual game-winner courtesy of Trey Palermo with 49 seconds left in the session.

Minnesota cut into the deficit early in the second stanza as Zach Ash picked up his first SIJHL goal during a man advantage opportunity.

However, a late GM Ice Dogs power play helped the home side go back up by two as Mowatt notched his first of the contest just before the session was to expire.

Dryden then put the game away in their third as Mowatt and Matthew Pitchenese both found the back of the net to round out the scoring.

The GM Ice Dogs out shot the Iron Rangers 50-32 with Carson Murison picking up the win while Nick Corneliusen kept his side in it with a 45-save performance in defeat.
