DRYDEN, Ont. – Dylan Winsor had a career-high four goals while newcomer Trygve Many Guns had a hat trick and an assist in his Superior International Junior Hockey League debut as the Dryden GM Ice Dogs went on to defeat the Minnesota Iron Rangers 12-2 Saturday at Memorial Arena.
After Garrett Wojicki’s first of the season gave Minnesota the lead five minutes into the contest, Winsor struck twice in a 20-second span to put Dryden up 2-1.
Each side would then connect on man advantage opportunities later in the frame as Joe Lech tied it for the Iron Rangers only to see Cameron Coutre collect his 10th to put the home side up 3-2 after one.
The GM Ice Dogs then broke it open in the middle stanza as they tallied five times in the frame to go up 8-2 after 40 minutes.
Braden Shea had two of GM Ice Dogs’ goals while Evan Walls, Many Guns and Rayman Bassi both picked up their first SIJHL markers.
Dryden then put the game away in the third with four more goals as Winsor and Many Guns both connected twice in the stanza to finish off the romp.
GM Ice Dogs captain Trey Palermo dished out a career single-game high five assists for his side in the triumph.
Jordan Wilde made 30 saves to record the win with Synjen Amende and Nick Corneliusen both seeing time in net in the loss for Minnesota.
