Siebenga’s strikes late in Dryden win at Thief River Falls

THIEF RIVER FALLS, Minn. – A Jacob Siebenga goal with under seven minutes remaining in regulation was the game-winner as the Dryden GM Ice Dogs pulled out a 4-3 victory over the Thief River Falls Norskies Sunday in Superior International Junior Hockey League action at Ralph Engelstad Arena.

A late first period power play helped Dryden open the scoring in the contest on a Tyler Browning man advantage effort at 18:40.

The Norskies came out quickly in the middle session to tie things up when Blake Nelson notched his 11th at 2:27.

Up a man later in the frame, the home side took the lead off the stick of Bryce Johnson, but the GM Ice Dogs came right back 43 seconds later to knot the affair at 3-3 after two.

Eric Stout’s 18th put the guests back on top 1:06 into the third, only to see Johnson strike once more for the Norskies a few shifts later.

Eventually Siebenga broke the deadlock for good as his eighth of the year proved to be the difference maker.

Boe Bjorge assisted on all three Thief River Falls tallies to extend a point streak to 13 straight outings while Nelson’s marker, and a helper, gives him points in seven consecutive contests.

Jacob Anthony made 25 saves, including one on a second period penalty shot, to record his first SIJHL win with Fletcher Bolda facing 47 shots in defeat for the Norskies.
