Brandt’s big night leads Dryden over Fort Frances

DRYDEN, Ont. – Defenceman Ryan Brandt collected a season-high four assists while forward Trygve Many Guns notched a hat trick to pace the Dryden GM Ice Dogs to a one-sided 8-2 decision over the Fort Frances Lakers in Superior International Junior Hockey League play Saturday at Memorial Arena.

The GM Ice Dogs came out charging in the first period as they stormed out to a 4-0 lead on a pair or markers from Trygve Many Guns while Braden Shea and Evan Pakkala supplied singles.

It was more Dryden in the middle session as they picked up goals from Coutre and Brody Nielsen to go up by six before the contest was half complete.

Noah Loveday did put Fort Frances on the board with a power play effort midway through the frame.

The Lakers added another 6:41 into the third on Jaedin Ness’ 16th strike of the season to make it 6-2.

However, Many Guns and Coutre added later efforts to round out the evening’s scoring.

In all, eight different GM Ice Dogs had multi-point performances in the home ice victory.

Dryden out shot Fort Frances 48-19 overall with Jacob Anthony picking up the win while Jacob Gnidziejko suffered the loss.
