THUNDER BAY, Ont. – The Superior International Junior Hockey League announced Tuesday that Dryden GM Ice Dogs forward Trygve Many Guns has been selected its Play It Again Sports Player of the Week for the period ending Feb. 24.
In four outings last week the 20-year-old Siksika, Alta., product racked up a league-high six goals and chipped in with a pair of assists helping Dryden go unbeaten in regulation with a 2-0-1-1 record.
With a trio of multi-point performances as part of his contributions, Many Guns also registered a hat trick, including supplying the game-winner, in a home ice triumph over Fort Frances on Sunday.
Since joining the GM Ice Dogs at the beginning of December, he has produced at well over a point-per-game clip with 38 in 25 contests on 16 tallies and 22 helpers.
Many Guns’ efforts has seen him notch three or more points in a contest on eight occasions to date.
Also earning consideration for player of the week honours was Joel Willan, (F) Thunder Bay North Stars; Alec Daman, (F) Thief River Falls Norskies; Shaye Sommerfeld, (F) Red Lake Miners; Isaac Baron, (F) Fort Frances Lakers and Joe Lech, (F) Minnesota Iron Rangers.
