Lac Seul to host 2nd SIJHL contest as Dryden and Fort Frances to meet Feb. 19 at Events Centre

THUNDER BAY, Ont. – For a second time this season, a Superior International Junior Hockey League regular season contest will be held in Lac Seul as the Dryden GM Ice Dogs and Fort Frances Lakers meet at the Lac Seul Events Centre on Wednesday, February 19. Game time is 7:30 p.m. CT.

“The Lac Seul Events Centre is thrilled to be hosting another SIJHL Jr. A hockey game in the new year,” stated LSEC manager Jeremy Capay.

The venue earlier hosted a match-up between Dryden and the Red Lake Miners back in November, which was won by the GM Ice Dogs.

Having an opportunity to play once more in Lac Seul is something the Dryden team executive is looking forward to.

“We are excited to partner with Jeremy Capay and the people of Lac Seul First Nation to bring SIJHL action there,” offered Dryden team president Michael Sveinson.

“Not only does this showcase the league and our team, but we hope put on a show that the fans will appreciate,” added Sveinson.

“Our players and staff look forward to and are grateful for the opportunity.”

Broadening the areas for hockey fans in northwestern Ontario and region to take in live Jr. A hockey is something the league also relishes.

“Any chance we can showcase the SIJHL elsewhere outside of the locales of our six member teams, be it in northwestern Ontario, northern Minnesota or northern Wisconsin, it is something we fully support,” said commissioner Bryan Graham.

“We look forward to working with all the parties as we see Jr. A hockey returning to Lac Seul in February.”

Further information on this game, including ticket prices, will be announced in the coming weeks.
