SIJHL Year End Awards: Best Forward of the Year

By Tanner Schafer

Over the next couple of days, we will be announcing our players of the year. Teams nominated their own players and then it went to a vote between the clubs and media members with teams unable to vote for their own players. That being said, let’s jump right in.

The Forward of the Year is Landen Stromme of the Dryden GM Ice Dogs. The ‘04 forward had a great year for the Ice Dogs 51 points in 49 games. Stromme was a major part of the Dryden power play scoring 10 goals on the man advantage and picked up 12 assists as well. Power play wasn’t the only special teams unit that Stromme excelled on. He was a regular presence on the best penalty killing team in the league and even scored 3 short handed goals. Stromme was also one of the top players in the clutch this year as he led the league in game winning goals with 6. The Ice Dogs forward netted Forward of the Month in December so this is the 2nd piece of hardware going into his trophy case this year. Stromme’s great plays in every facet of the game has earned him the SIJHL Best Forward of the Year.
